Perimenopause is the process that leads to menopause in women who are nearing the menopausal age. Usually in the mid 40’s or early 50’s perimenopause will start. You may also start spotting and your monthly period will become irregular. Some doctors would prescribe birth control pills before menopause in a low-dose or prescribe antidepressants. You will have to make lifestyle changes because you are in a transition period of your life.
Exercise!
Exercising regularly, at least three days per week weight training taking supplements of vitamin E, Omega 3 and evening primrose oil supplements can greatly help. Alterations to your diet can also help. Herbal products such as ginkgo biloba, black cohosh have proved effective. Many women are scared of the transitional period. If you take real good care of yourself it doesn’t have to be that way. You have to work hard to be as healthy and energetic as you were before.
It is important that you get ready and understand that menopause is a natural part of a woman growing older and that your ovaries are shrinking. Your estrogen levels are dropping and with the decline you will start experiencing so many different ways of your body letting you know that. Unless you have symptoms that are affecting you really badly, you don’t need to rush for treatment, but checking with your doctor is important. Making yourself aware of the transition of your body changes is important. Exercise, eating right and staying away from fatty and processed foods is a must so you can maintain ideal body weight by the time you reach the golden age.
